Source and provenance
Where did the records come from, how were they collected, and which definitions or source references explain them?
01 / Data brokerage & acquisition
Scrinium Data considers purchasing datasets from their owners. Tell us what your information covers and which rights you hold; we can then assess whether there is a realistic acquisition opportunity. You do not need to send the data itself to start.
Potential opportunities can involve specialist catalogues, historic records, research and reference collections, business information or structured domain-specific datasets. The essential question is not whether information looks impressive in a spreadsheet; it is whether it is useful for a legitimate purpose and can be transferred or licensed with the required rights.
We look at subject matter, geographic and time coverage, approximate number of records, update frequency, original collection methods, permitted uses, documentation and commercial relevance. Incomplete or untidy data can still be considered, but material limitations should be described honestly.
Where did the records come from, how were they collected, and which definitions or source references explain them?
Who controls the data? Is sale, licensing or onward use permitted? What contractual, privacy or confidentiality limits apply?
Which entities, places and periods are represented? Are updates available? How complete and consistently structured are records?
An initial enquiry is a description, not a transfer of intellectual property. If there is a plausible fit, both parties can agree what additional material is needed, under which confidentiality arrangements, and how permitted uses are assessed before any transaction.
Share the dataset's subject, extent, available formats, ownership basis and general reason for considering a sale.
Review the usefulness of the coverage, source quality, available rights and any limitations or competing restrictions.
If both sides are interested, discuss scope, permitted uses, commercial structure, due diligence and any required safeguards.
Agree secure delivery, documentation, validation and responsibilities only after appropriate arrangements are in place.
Commercial value is not proportional to row count. A small, well-documented specialist collection may be more useful than millions of repetitive records. Relevant considerations include exclusivity, quality, lawful reusability, freshness, historical depth, update rights, demand for the subject and the cost of preparing it for use.
We cannot establish a price or promise a purchase from a short description. Any commercial discussion depends on actual review, legal permissions and the practical use case. We do not invite submissions of personal data for indiscriminate resale.
Explain what the dataset contains, where it is held, whether it is regularly updated, its approximate scale, file formats and how you obtained the rights to offer it. Mention known gaps, duplicated records and restrictions rather than attempting to hide them. We can discuss a sample later if appropriate.
If you need help clarifying formats, merging related sources or improving inconsistent values before any transaction, consider our data integration and data cleaning services.
We consider direct purchases where a dataset has a sound commercial rationale and the owner can establish the rights needed for the intended transaction. Not every enquiry becomes an offer.
No. Documented quality issues can be reviewed as part of assessing feasibility and preparation effort.
Please do not. Begin with a high-level description. Any sensitive material should be shared only after appropriate terms and secure arrangements are agreed.
A dataset's use must comply with applicable laws, contracts and rights. Do not submit personal data through the contact form. No category of personal data is automatically eligible for purchase.
No. Price, if any, follows an assessment of rights, quality, coverage, possible uses and proposed commercial terms.
